ICANN Votes ANY Word Can Be A TLD
Monday, 14 July 2008 03:53

ICANN (think of them as the domain name government) recently voted that any word can be used as a tld (the extension on a domain name, eg. .com or .net) if you can foot the bill for it. No confirmed prices on this yet, but I have seen rumors that $50,000 would be a starting point. Be on the lookout for mass internet confusion as we introduce yet more .<your word here>'s for the general public to remember.

The Reinvigorated Programmer argues that the world is full of excellent programmers who cut their teeth on BASIC, and suggests it could even be because they started out with BASIC."
